You can reach the VSA to ask questions about purchasing a new or used vehicle at enquiry@mvsabc.com or by phone at 1-877-294-9889.

Consumer Complaints

If you have been unable to resolve a problem with a dealership or if you believe the salesperson or dealership has acted illegally, you may file a Consumer Complaint.

If you believe you have information about a person operating as an unregistered motor dealer, you can report them using the Report an Unregistered Motor Dealer "Curber" Form. You may make the report anonymously.

Consumer Compensation Fund

For dealerships that are no longer in business, compensation may be available from the Motor Dealer Customer Compensation Fund. Financial losses as a result of the purchase, lease or consignment sale of a motor vehicle from a licensed BC motor dealer and not resolved through the complaint process, may also be eligible.

Quick Tips Before You Buy

  1. Know your financial limit
  2. Research vehicle features, quality and prices
  3. Go with someone who knows vehicles and contracts
  4. There is no need to stay or purchase if you feel pressured
  5. Understand the terms of any deposit you leave
  6. Test drive for at least 30 minutes and check all the features
  7. Get a used vehicle inspection or a copy of an inspection report before you buy
  8. Get a used vehicle history report or a copy of a vehicle history report before you buy
  9. Get any promises or extras in writing
  10. Only sign a contract you have read and really understand
  11. Get a copy of every document you sign and keep it in your records
  12. There is no return policy once you sign
